Medium Voltage Switchgear

The Siemens Raleigh Plant manufacturers the GM (5-15kV) and GM38 (23-38kV) switchgear lines that are widely used
in utility applications, industrial plants and commercial buildings, as well as cogeneration installations.
The GM Metal-Clad equipment is available in a full range of ANSI ratings from 5kV through 15kV. This design provides horizontal drawout vacuum circuit breakers in a two-high stacked design with flexible configurations and high durability.

The GM38 Metal-Clad equipment meets the needs for switchgear applications from 23kV through 38kV. The horizontal
drawout vacuum circuit breakers occupy the lower cell, with VT's and drawout fuses available in the upper cell.
The vacuum interrupters are uniquely designed and developed to provide the lowest chopping currents in the industry.
The switchgear structure with its white interior cells enhances visibility and safety. The horizontal drawout vacuum circuit
breakers are an integrated design, with dielectric, thermal and interruption integrity built directly into the basic design.

Medium Voltage Motor Controllers, Series 81000

Siemens is the largest manufacturer of motors worldwide. Siemens' application engineering staff is well-versed
in NEMA and above NEMA motor and control integration requirements. Siemens applies the "right" control
scheme to give you the "right priced" solution.

The Series 81000 MVC is a modular design consisting of one or more starters, each with an isolation means,
three current limiting fuses, and a vacuum contactor, all housed in a freestanding, front only, sheet metal enclosure.
Safety is its key attribute. Fuse and fuse holders are installed on the rackable, rollout contactor assembly.

The Series 81000 MVC is now offered in a new stationary contactor design. The stationary starters can be configured
in a reduced height (75") and reduced width (24") stand-alone enclosure facilitating a smaller foot print and reduced
shipping cost. Available in "three-high" configuration without de-rating. The Series 81000 MVC allows the user to
combine vacuum starters, latched contactors, and load break switches in one convenient line-up. The user can also connect
directly to Siemens GM Medium Voltage Switchgear without additional transition sections.

Type SDV4 Outdoor Distribution Breakers

The SD4 breaker is a vacuum-insulated, five cycle, three pole stored energy operated circuit breaker available
in 15.5kV to 27kV voltage ratings. SDV4 technology is proven in thousands of installations around the world.
Siemens advanced interrupting technology means long operating life with no maintenance. Combine with a Siemens
Siprotec 4 Bay Controller Relay for a complete package solution.

SF6 Power Breakers

Siemens has developed a family of dead-tank SF6 power circuit breakers from 15 to 242 kV. Designated the SPS2, the
breaker entered service in October 1997. The SPS2 features a second generation arc-assist interrupter and an advanced
spring operator. Both components are identical to those used globally in the Siemens live tank breakers and require virtually
zero maintenance. The SPS2 is tested to both ANSI and IEC standards. The breaker has been tested to 6,000 mechanica
l operations, 3,000 operations at 6 kA. The SPS2 breaker is produced at the Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution
plant in Jackson, Mississippi, USA. This state-of-the-art facility has a quality system certified to the requirements of the
ISO 9001 Standard. Factory assembly and testing eliminates the need for any field adjustments.

Circuit Switchers

Siemens Type CPV2 Circuit Switcher is ideal for applications that do not require reclosing. The CPV2 model provides
space-saving protection at an economical cost. Operation of the CPV2 is controlled by a FA2 Spring Operator, which is
similar to the operating mechanism used in the SPS2 Circuit Breaker. There are several reasons to specify and install the
CPV2 Circuit Switcher: excellent design, robust construction, simple installation, minimal maintenance, and low installed cost.
The Siemens Type CPV2 Circuit Switcher device can switch and protect transformers, lines, cables, shunt capacitor banks,
and shunt reactors. It also provides a low cost medium fault interrupting device. It has a consistent and fast operating time
of 3 cycles with a high interrupting capability of up to 40 kA.

Each pole unit is equipped with a manifold which incorporates a fill valve, a pressure gauge and rupture disc. This manifold is
located at the lower end of the pole unit, connected to the cover assembly by a union coupling. The coupling allows the pressure
gauge to be rotated by the user to provide the most satisfactory view from the ground. The pressure gauge has a color coded
face for ease of reading from a distance. A label showing a picture of the gauge and an operating pressure range versus
ambient temperature is located on the door of the control cabinet.

As an option, the Siemens Type CPV2 Circuit Switcher can be equipped with a temperature compensated pressure
switch to automatically monitor the status of the SF6 gas in the pole units. This switch with gauge is located inside the contro
l cabinet, and has two sets of contacts. One set of contacts provides an alarm indication when the gas pressure approaches
within 5 psi of the lockout value. The other set prevents operation if gas pressure falls to a level at which current interruption
is not assured. The temperature compensating feature of the switch avoids alarms and lockouts due to normal pressure
variations associated with ambient temperature changes.

Reclosers

Centurion Reclosers uses vacuum interrupters that provide safe and efficient fault interruption. Environmentally friendly,
these vacuum interrupters reduce maintenance and provide for long contact life. Additionally, they meet or exceed the
requirements of ANSI C37.60. The vacuum interrupters are housed in epoxy bushings, eliminating the need for oil
or gas insulation. The lightweight and portable epoxy insulation effectively reduces installation costs and eradicates
EPA spill and leak issues.

The control cabinet is made of 316 stainless steel, a corrosive-free material that cuts lifecycle costs and eliminates
corrosion concerns. Integral voltage sensors provide voltage detection as well as voltage and power monitoring. A large
directly-connected pointer, easily seen from up to 330 feet away, highlights the reclosers contact position. A hook stick
can be used to manually trip and lock out the reclosers from the ground. The reclosers can also be locked out electrically
using toggle switches on the operator control panel.

The Control connects to the Switch Control Entry Module (SCEM). This SCEM card has EEPROM on board that
contains all relevant Reclosers calibration data, ratings and number of operations of the vacuum interrupter. The SCEM
card also provides the first stage of electrical isolation and shorting electronics to short the CTs in the event the control
cable is disconnected while current is flowing in the primary path.

Integral communication equipment combined with a user-supplied transceiver allows remote control and remote
monitoring of the centurion Reclosers. Together, the Reclosers and control comprise a highly efficient,
technologically sound, remote operable, Intelligent Electronic Device.

Voltage Regulators

Siemens has long been a leader in the design and manufacture of voltage regulators. In 1933, Siemens' partner,
Allis-Chalmers, pioneered the field of step voltage regulators. Since that time, Siemens has maintained technical
leadership in the development of an extensive line of step voltage regulators and accessories.

Siemens step voltage regulators provide utility companies and other industrial customers with the capability to maintain
constant line voltage under varying load conditions. The regulators, coupled with tap-changer control panels also allow
users to control the voltage during periods of peak and reduced demand to optimize operating conditions.

Siemens manufactures a complete line of single-phase (tpe JFR) and three-phase (type SFR) regulators. In addition,
Siemens designs and manufactures a complete line of voltage-regulator accessories that enhance the operation and
efficiency of the regulators. Click any of the categories below for details about the regulators and accessories.

Type SFR Three-Phase Regulators, introduced in 1958, has become the standard of the industry. Refined and improved
over the years, the SFR voltage regulator has proven its reliability and durability in the toughest environments.
